Erlenbach (ZH): Initiative against SBB project at the train station
In Erlenbach (SBB), SBB wants to build a complex with 8,500 square meters of floor space at the train station. A citizens' initiative wants to thwart the plans.
SBB is planning a development on the Erlenbach station site on Lake Zurich. The newly designed station square will be expanded into a transport hub. The densification of buildings in a central location will enable people to live and work with excellent accessibility. In addition, the connection between Bahnhofstrasse, station access, the new development, and public space will strengthen the station's character as a place of arrival and relaxation.
A plot of land measuring 2,680 square meters is to be developed. The planned new building complex will have a floor area of 8,470 square meters. 2,700 square meters are earmarked for residential use, and 700 square meters for retail and services.
The project is currently facing opposition from the community. An initiative is calling for the design plan for Bahnhofstrasse to be scrapped. The municipal council must deal with the motion. (aw)
